Yep. Denver residents are waking to a snow-globe view of the world this Sunday — again.
But take heart, the white stuff is expected to clear out, and mostly sunny weather should return on Monday and linger through Thursday.
After that there is a slight chance of rain showers and thunderstorms into the weekend, according to Kari Bowen.
“We are definitely in the spring, so we are going to see less snow, more rain, and some thunder storms,” she said.
Precipitation, and snowfall were both higher than normal, with 2.56 inches of precipitation, compared to a norm of 1.71 inches, and 15.6 inches of snow, compared to the normal 8.9 inches.
But the month didn’t set any records, Bowen said.
The wettest April on record was in 1900, when there were 8.24 inches of precipitation. The snowiest April was in 1933, when there were 33.8 inches. “We didn’t even break the top 10,” Bowen said.
Elitch Gardens theme park postponed its opening day on Saturday, and again on Sunday.
Temperatures will continue to warm through the rest of the week, with high 50s on Monday, into the 60s on Tuesday, and the 70s on Wednesday. The mercury could climb into the mid to upper 70s on Thursday.
