Colorado Springs police have identified the man suspected of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and hit-and-run

Christopher Roseboom, 45, has been booked into the El Paso County jail.

Police say Roseboom crashed a car into a tree on the 2500 block of North Chelton Road about 11 p.m. Wednesday, killing a passenger who was hurled out of the car, and then took off running.

The one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to a Colorado Springs police report.

Roseboom was going south on the 2500 block of North Chelton Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his Subaru Impreza, police said. The vehicle slid off the road and slammed into a large tree at the intersection of Chelton and Highland Drive, according to investigators.

As the Subaru rotated away from the tree, a passenger sitting in the right rear seat was ejected from the car and killed. The passenger was not wearing a seat belt.

the El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in the wreck as 32-year-old Joshua Roberts.

Roseboom was arrested several hours after the crash. Jail records show he is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
