Hot, dry summer day expected for Denver area Monday

It will be mostly sunny with a high temperature of around 93 degrees on Monday, the first day of August, forecasters predict.

Steady southwest winds between 6 and 11 mph are expected to shift to the north in the afternoon. Winds could gust up to 16 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The low temperature tonight will be around 62 degrees.

On Tuesday, there is a 10 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. It will be mostly sunny, with a high of 89 degrees.

It will be mostly sunny on Wednesday, with a high of 94 degrees.

A cold front will drop temperatures 15 degrees on Thursday to a high of 79 degrees. It is expected to be 78 degrees on Friday.

There will be a slight chance for afternoon rain and thunderstorms every day between Thursday and Sunday, according to the NWS.

Temperatures will rise back into the 80s on the weekend, with a high near 84 degrees on Saturday and a high near 86 on Sunday.
