A man was found dead behind the wheel of his crashed SUV on Sunday morning in south Boulder after reports the vehicle had been driving erratically in the area.

Boulder paramedics and firefighters found the man dead in his vehicle after it struck a light pole near the intersection of Table Mesa Driver and Moorhead Avenue, according to a city news release. Police have not said what caused the man’s death. It is believed he was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to the city’s news release, and no other vehicles appear to have been involved.

Westbound Table Mesa was closed for several hours west of the U.S. 36 interchange while police investigated the incident, as was Moorhead north of Table Mesa. All roads in the area have since been reopened, Boulder County emergency dispatchers say.

The Boulder County coroner’s office will release the man’s name once his relatives have been identified.
