It’s been a rough few weeks for Colorado State Rams fans.
The saga that led to the resignation of men’s basketball head coach Larry Eustachy left an ugly indelible mark on their 11-21 season. A stark contrast to the team that finished 24-12 in 2016-17 and advanced to the second round of the NIT.
Then in football, redshirt sophomore quarterback Collin Hill — who was expected to start for the team in 2018 — suffered a re-torn ACL and is expected to miss the majority of the season. If not longer.
But don’t fret — some has come.
On Thursday, the Rams found their new men’s basketball coach in Niko Medved, a former CSU assistant who was with the team from 2007-13. A strong recruiter, he helped bring in several players who helped define Colorado State’s success in the early 2010s.
Then on Sunday, CSU football possibly found its quarterback for 2018 as the team announced that K.J. Carta-Samuels — who played primarily as a backup at Washington — was joining as a graduate transfer. A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Carta-Samuels is expected to compete with redshirt junior J.C. Robles and redshirt freshman Justice McCoy for the starting job.
Things are looking up in Fort Collins. Down in Denver, however…
