A young mountain lion chased up a tree by dogs in Cañon City on Tuesday morning was tranquilized by Colorado wildlife officers and taken to a rehabilitation center.
The female kitten, about nine months old and 40 pounds, is about the same age and size of a lion that attacked a jogger near Fort Collins, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials said. The young lion that attacked the jogger in February was killed by the jogger.
Joined by Technician Jay Adamic and two Fremont County Sheriff Deputies, CPW Officer Bob Carochi tranquilized the lion kitten with a dart and loaded it into a pet carrier. Then they took it to nonprofit Wet Mountain Wildlife Rehabilitation in Wetmore.
