A Lakewood police officer and a suspect in his custody were injured Saturday morning when a drunken driver rear-ended them.
The officer, who was not named, was making a DUI arrest about 3 a.m. in the area of South Wadsworth Boulevard and Morrison Road when he was hit from behind, Officer Louis Strube said in an email.
The officer, suspect and drunk driver were transported to a hospital for minor injuries, Strube said, and have been released.
Lakewood police are investigating.
Don’t drink and drive! A LPD Agent was making a DUI arrest this morning when another drunk driver rear ended him causing injuries to our Agent and his suspect. When you choose to drink and drive you’re not only putting your safety at risk but the safety of those around you!
