The Front Range and the Eastern Plains could be hit Friday afternoon with large hail, thunderstorms, strong winds and rain, according to a National Weather Service advisory.

“Scattered thunderstorms will develop over the mountains and foothills by the early afternoon,” the NWS said late Friday morning.

Denver and the entire Front Range is within an area of the state where severe weather is possible, according to a map released at 11:21 a.m.

“Some severe storms are expected to be rolling over the plains east of Denver through the afternoon and evening, possibly bringing large hail and strong wind gusts,” the weather service said.
