A gas tanker rolled over in Commerce City on Saturday morning, spilling an unknown amount of fuel onto the road, Colorado State Patrol said.
The incident occurred at 6:45 a.m. at the corner of 96th Avenue and Brighton Boulevard, Cpl. Ivan Alvarado, state patrol spokesman, said.
The intersection remains closed as Hazmat personnel clean up the spillage, Alvarado said.
“We don’t know the extent of the leakage, and we don’t know the extent of the closure,” he said.
Alvarado indicated there were no injuries to the driver of the tanker, and no other vehicles were involved.
Maria Carabajal, spokeswoman for the South Adams Fire Department, said the fuel is being offloaded to another tanker after crews were unable to patch the original tanker.
SACFD crews responded to rollover tanker truck near 96th/Hwy 76 at approx. 6:40. Single vehicle involved and no injuries. Crews and Hazmat team on-scene and offloading fuel. Expect some delays in the area. BC21, E27, HZ7, E26 and T24 and assistance from CSP.
