Mountain lion captured in Longmont garage, set free in national forest

A young mountain lion was released into the wild Tuesday after being found Monday in an open garage in Longmont.

Officers with the Colorado Park and Wildlife responded Monday evening to the Longmont garage where they were able to safely and effectively , according to CPW.

On Tuesday, the cat was released in an undisclosed section of the Araphoe and Roosevelt National Forest.

Wildlife officers Sam Peterson and Jason Duetsch opened a gate on a truck-loaded cage, peeled back a tarp and the lion jumped to the forest floor and dashed to freedom.
