Denverites are sweating it out in abnormally warm spring weather on Tuesday, with a record high set at Denver International Airport.
The National Weather Service confirmed that today’s high briefly hit 85 degrees at the airport, as of 5:17 p.m. “That’s the official record for Denver,” said spokesperson Russell Danielson.
But the record already had been broken hours earlier at 12:36 p.m., when the National Weather Service reported the temperature as 81 degrees – beating the previous record set in 1982 at 80 degrees.
81°F already at DEN, which is a record high for today. (Previous one was 80°F in 1982). With it only being 12:30pm it will likely warm up a few more degrees.

Tuesday’s high also eclipsed the forecast high, which was 83 degrees.
The new heat record was set one week after snow fell in Colorado’s capital city.
The office expects will follow a similar pattern — possibly reaching 84 degrees and beating the previous high of 79 degrees set in 2018.
Thursday, temperatures are anticipated to cool to a high of 75 degrees, leaving the current record of 85 degrees set in 2006 unthreatened.
