Eastern Aurora and rural communities of Arapahoe County are looking to be the most impacted, National Weather Service Meteorologist Bruno Rodriguez said, but the tornado warning for that storm has expired.
Reports of golf-ball-sized hail have come in from this storm, but there has not yet been a confirmed tornado on the ground, Rodriguez said.
The storm will likely go south of Denver International Airport through communities like Watkins, Bennett and possibly Strasburg.
“Based on the current track, it looks like the heaviest parts of the storm and greatest potential for tornados and damaging hail would stay just south of the airport,” Rodriguez said. “Not to say that couldn’t change, but at the moment most of the airport grounds should stay north of the core of (the storm).”
Central Denver and the western and northern suburbs appear to have missed the worst of the current storm’s impacts, but Rodriguez warned there are more storms developing south of the metro in the southern foothills and the Palmer Divide that could have different tracks as they move northward.
