Colorado traffic: Heavy mountain snow closes passes, highways Saturday

Loveland Pass, Monarch Pass among closures

Several mountain highways are closed Saturday after a winter storm dropped double-digit snowfall in some areas, according to the .

Strong winds also caused near-whiteout conditions, and blowing snow could still be a hazard on roadways, forecasters at the National Weather Service in Boulder said.

Update 5 p.m.: U.S. 50 at Monarch Pass had reopened between County Road 888 and County Road 228.

Colorado 125 has reopened between U.S. 40 near Granby and Walden.

Colorado 14 reopened from just west of Walden to U.S. 40 but is still closed from County Road 61 to Walden.

12:45 p.m.: U.S. 6 is closed at Loveland Pass between Interstate 70 and Montezuma Road.

U.S. 50 at Monarch Pass is closed between County Road 888 and County Road 228.

Colorado 125 is closed between U.S. 40 near Granby and Walden.

Colorado 14 is closed from County Road 36 east of Gould to Walden, then again from just west of Walden to U.S. 40.
