Winter weather has left Denver as temperatures rise to nearly 50 degrees Wednesday, but further west in the mountains, heavy snow returns later in the day.
Denver’s high is 49 degrees Wednesday and 48 degrees Thursday, leaving hardly any trace of the Arctic blast from the past few days.
Overnight lows both days will still be below freezing, and another small cold front is set to come in Thursday night, plummeting temperatures to just nine degrees.
Friday’s high is 33 degrees, but then temperatures will get back into the 40s and 50s over the weekend.
The mountains will have a different story the rest of the week, as heavy snow returns Wednesday through Thursday, dropping another up to 14 inches of snow in some areas.
Snow returns to the Park Range this morning, becoming heavier and more widespread across the mountains this afternoon through Thursday. Combined with strong winds, expect difficult travel and whiteout conditions at times for passes/higher elevations.

The snow will mainly be focused over the northern mountains Wednesday morning, then spread to the rest of the high country throughout the day.
High winds will also occur in the mountains Wednesday, leading to some dangerous travel conditions and possible whiteouts. Gusts could reach up to 75 mph through midday and again later Wednesday night.
The snow will continue into Thursday, but all areas across the state should have dry conditions by Friday.
