Colorado will see its first “substantial” snowfall of the season on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Just two weeks ago, NWS meteorologists confirmed the first dusting of snow on Colorado’s mountains. This weekend, forecasters said the state’s north-central peaks could see of fresh snow.

“Roads will become slippery in spots, especially through mountain passes,” forecasters said in the advisory. “Use caution when traveling.”
Snow won’t quite make it to the lower elevations of the Front Range, metro area and Eastern Plains this weekend, but forecasters said areas below 9,000 feet can expect heavy rain showers and thunderstorms.
Storms are expected to move into the Denver area around 4 p.m. Saturday and continue through at least 3 a.m. Sunday, . The wave of rainy weather will hit the Eastern Plains around 5 p.m. Saturday and continue through noon Sunday.

After a week of temperature highs in the mid to high-80s, temperatures in both areas are expected to peak in the high-60s on Saturday and the low-50s on Sunday, according to NWS forecasters.
According to the hazardous weather outlook, a gradual warming trend is forecasted across the state next week, with temperatures returning to the mid-70s in the metro area and high-40s in the mountains.
