officials on Friday announced the end of slow zone speed restrictions for northbound D Line light rail trains and the shortening of a slow zone along the E and H lines as part of the agency’s catch-up maintenance to fix and replace deteriorating tracks.

But riders on the RTD’s A Line between and the Peoria Station will be diverted to bus shuttles on Saturday, Feb. 15 to facilitate track maintenance.

Work on RTD’s H and R lines along the Interstate 225 corridor between the Florida and Southmoor stations set for Wednesday will be postponed because of cold weather, agency officials said Tuesday.

The H and R lines will operate as normal on Wednesday, and rail maintenance will resume Thursday, with bus shuttles replacing service between five stations from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Along the A Line, regular service will continue between Denver Union Station and Peoria Station on Feb. 15. The rail service between Peoria and DIA will resume by noon, officials said. This maintenance “will improve the commuter line’s overall reliability and safety,” officials said. A-Line riders can board the bus shuttles at the Denver Airport Station, the 61st and Pena Station, the 40th Avenue and Airport Boulevard Gateway Park Station, and the Peoria Station.

Starting last June, RTD officials imposed slow zones where trains crawl at 10 miles per hour after track inspections found problems. Speed restrictions will continue until track replacements and fixes are completed.

The slow zone south of the Yale Station has been shortened by about 2,200 feet, improving southbound travel times for riders along the E and H lines in southeast metro Denver.
