The vegan Caribbean restaurant, which opened in 2018, closed Wednesday, owner Kevin Delk told BusinessDen. He did not elaborate on why the restaurant at 1310 N. Pearl St. shuttered, saying only that he looks forward to living full time again with his wife, who is in New York City.

He lived there prepandemic, coming back to Denver a couple times a month to check up on his restaurants. But he started spending more time in the Mile High after COVID complicated travel.

“Ultimately, itap time to live in the same city as my wife; two city-livin’ is for the birds,” Delk said in a text.

He’s also still trying to lease or sell the real estate, which he bought for $750,000 in 2015, records show. Delk said he has two “very interested parties” for the 6,250 square feet. It just comes down to which is the better fit for the neighborhood.

“This wasn’t an easy decision, and it wasn’t just one thing,” Delk wrote on Bang Up’s website. “Neighborhoods change, our own lives change, and so does the landscape for independent restaurants.”
