There’s that name again: In 2006, the Girls Inc. Alliance elected a Hillary with two Ls to serve as co-president; this year, it’s a single-L Hilary who is sharing the leadership of this fundraising arm of Girls, Inc. of Metro Denver.

At the Alliance’s annual “fun fiesta,” Membership & Margaritas, the retiring leaders, Hillary Adams and Melinda Dark, announced they will be succeeded by Hilary Johnson and Karen Hannah Wheeler.

All good things must end, though, even the Hillary/Hilary tradition. The co-presidents on deck for 2008 are Cathy Gilbert and Laura Herren.

Others on the 2007 leadership team are vice presidents Tami Beardsley and Heather LaMontagne (administration); Caroline Baker and Cissie Megyesy (membership); Bobbin Holtvluwer, Rickie Jones and Denise McClard (program); and Stacey Baumhauer (ways and means). A pair of Heathers – Anderson and Hackett – shares the office of secretary while Marianne Hayes and Amy Reilly perform the duties of treasurer.

Tami Beardsley and Heather LaMontagne will chair the Alliance’s signature benefit, Girls & Guys Night Out, the headliner for which is comedian Wayne Brady, and Kerri Cole and Kendall LaMontagne will coordinate the summer carnival that is put on for the young members of Girls, Inc. Lisa Maher and Jennifer Waters are heading the major givers division, the Golden Girls & Guys, and Danielle Cassell is coordinating the Alliance’s scholarship program. A spring fundraiser will be under the direction of Katie Dark and Josett Valdez.

Membership & Margaritas was chaired by Lauren Naylor, Sue Evans and Hillary Adams, and held at Dee Dee and Roger Parker’s Cherry Hills Village home.

Also of note:

The Mellon Financial Denver Jewish Film Festival opens Thursday with a screening of “Live and Become,” a drama about a young Ethiopian living in Israel. And, at a reception immediately preceding the show, Gay Curtiss-Lusher will be honored for her contributions to cultural and charitable life in Denver. For details, visit mizelcenter.org/film.html.

Bad weather forced the Junior Symphony Guild to cancel the Sneak Peek Party at its 2007 Designer Showhouse, so members are getting the word out early that the opening gala on April 21 is a definite “go.” The party begins with a Champagne tour of the site, two brownstone condominiums decorated in distinctively different styles, followed by dinner and dancing at the Westin Tabor Center.
