Getting your player ready...

For Heather Mills, the music ended Tuesday when she was eliminated from Season 4 of “Dancing With the Stars.” But as the estranged wife of former Beatle Paul McCartney made her exit, months of extensive practice began for the eight locals competing in Season 2 of Denver’s answer to the popular television show.

Holly Kylberg, Nancy Sevo, Laura Moore, Eula Adams, Stephanie Riggs, Arlene Mohler Johnson and John Tynan, partnered with pros from Colorado Dancesport, will show off some smooth moves at the Nov. 29 Dancing for the Kids at the Silver Bell Ball. Roselyn Saunders, Chris Kelley, Karen Bye and Bill Roth are chairing this benefit for the Mount St. Vincent Home. Gov. Bill Ritter and his wife, Jeannie, are the honorary chairs and Sister LaVonne Guidoni will be honored for her 45 years as a child advocate.

Cleo Parker Robinson, Kent Thompson and Terry Vitale are reprising their roles as judges.

We’ll have lots more as the big night approaches, so stay tuned.

That’s Italian

The contributions that Italian immigrants made in Denver are celebrated in an exhibition that opened last week at the Colorado History Museum, and representatives from many of those early-day families were on hand to help launch it.

Curator Alisa Zahller spent five years working with members of the Colorado Italian American Preservation Association to obtain the oral histories, photographs and artifacts contained in the exhibit sponsored by the Lloyd David and Carlye Cannon Wattis Foundation, Mike DePalma and Caterina Noya DePalma, and Phil and Ruth Spano.

“The Italians of Denver” remains at the museum until July 6, 2008.
