EARLY ART APPRECIATION

Chupungu Sculpture Park

At the eastern edge of the Promenade Shops at Centerra, Loveland

A grand opening for the lovely Chupungu Sculpture Park is not yet set in stone. But that doesn’t mean you can’t stop and take a stroll along the path where the enormous Zimbabwean stone sculptures are being installed. The trail winds around a grassy meadow, and already a dozen pieces of art are out there for the appreciation.

COOL FOR BLUESKOOL

Greeley Blues Fest

Saturday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Island Grove Regional Park, Greeley

The line-up of blues artists for the day-long fest is stellar, including The Holmes Brothers, the Subdudes and The Chicago All-Star Jam (Pinetop Perkins, Bob Margolin, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and Bob Stroger). Between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., musicians will cultivate young talent during BlueSkool sessions. Kids can learn the basics of blues kazoo, har-

monica and guitar. (Free kazoos and harmonicas for all players.) Tickets $30 at the gate; 12-and-unders get in free.

FIELD OF DREAMS

Colorado Mountain

View Lavender

5100 N. 109th St., south of Lookout Road, near Brownsville

If you’re headed north on U.S. 287 between Lafayette and Longmont, keep your eyes to the northeast just past Boulder Creek. That’s where former farmer and financial adviser Michael Richters is staking his dreams on 18,000 tiny lavender plants. This time next year, you’ll see a 5-acre riot of blooms and the chance to pick your own organic lavender bouquets, or to just wander around and enjoy the perfume.
