ASPEN, Colo.—State highway officials say Independence Pass between Aspen and Leadville will close for the season on Wednesday.

Colorado 82 crosses the pass at more than 12,000 feet above sea level. It will be shut down at 2 p.m.

It’s the third high-altitude route in Colorado to be buttoned up for the season. Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park closed two weeks ago. The upper part of the Mount Evans highway closed a month ago.
