BOULDER, Colo.—A Boulder high school is holding a day of silence Thursday following the sudden death of a sophomore student.
Officials say the boy left class around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday and was in a hallway near the school’s gym when he collapsed.
An instructor and a student saw the boy and called emergency personnel. He was taken to Boulder Community Hospital, where he died.
Fairview High School Principal Donald Stensrud says the school suspended Thursday’s activities for “All Cultures Week,” and instead, is offering counseling to students.
Stensrud says the student had a pre-existing heart condition, but neither the cause of death nor the student’s name have been released.
