Light snow will continue to fall on the metro area through tonight, but in the mountains it could reach a rate of an inch an hour.
9NEWS Meteorologist Nick Carter says the light snow will continue along parts of the Front Range into Saturday evening, but there will not be much accumulation, if any, in the metro area. There may also be pockets of dense fog in some areas.
The snowfall is much more intense in the Colorado high country, especially on the Western Slope. Snowfall could reach a rate of an inch an hour in Summit and Grand Counties and along the Continental Divide.
A winter weather advisory continues for all mountain areas west of Vail Pass for 4 to 8 inches of accumulation as well as blowing snow. Although the mountains east of Vail Pass are not included in the advisory, these areas will also see up to 8 inches of snow. This includes Breckenridge, Winter Park, and the Rocky Mountain National Park region.
Bitter cold temperatures will follow the light snow overnight. Lows will be in the single digits in and around the greater metro area, but wind chill factors will be below zero!
Sunday will be dry but cold along the Front Range. High temperatures in the Denver area will only be in the upper 20s.
