A woman was pulled from a burning home this morning in Jefferson County.
The fire started about 11:30 a.m. at 7834 S. Cody St., said Cindy Matthews, a West Metro Fire Protection District spokeswoman.
Someone called 911 to report the fire, Matthews said, and a West Metro firefighter, who works in code enforcement and fire prevention, was driving nearby and heard radio traffic about the incident.
He raced to the scene, arriving before fire trucks, and saw smoke coming from the roof, Matthews said.
The first responder forced his way through the front door and helped an elderly woman escape the burning home.
More firefighters arrived a short time later and the woman was taken to Littleton Hospital, Matthews said. Details on her condition were not available.
There were no other injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
