Trail Blazer: Capoeira master Mestre Acordeon to bike 14,000 miles to support Projeto Kirimure

The cause: (Bay Area to Brazil) in support of Projeto Kirimure

The feat: For his 70th birthday on Sept. 1, Acordeon plans to bike from his home in Berkeley to his birthplace of Bahia, Brazil, to raise funds for underprivileged children in Brazil. The trip is expected to take a year and cover 14,000 miles.

The story: Acordeon, a musician and performer, is also recognized as having brought the Brazilian martial art known as Capoeira — which combines dance, music and acrobatics — to the United States, including Denver, where he recently trained for his bike journey.
