Forecasters are calling for a slight chance of showers in Denver on Tuesday as cool temperatures remain in the city.
The National Weather Service in Boulder expects temperatures to top out in Denver near 74 degrees with breezy, southeast winds.
“Upslope low clouds and areas of fog will slowly lift this morning in eastern Colorado,” the weather service said in a forecast bulletin. “Showers and thunderstorms will linger over the higher terrain and redevelop by midday.”
Forecasters say the unsettled weather can be attributed to a weak upper trough moving into the state that will slowly migrate east over the next day.
“Locally heavy rain will be possible with the thunderstorms, but there is a low threat of severe weather,” the bulletin said.
Through Thursday, the weather service is calling for cool temperatures with “a decent chance of precipitation.”
“Some of the expected precipitation through Thursday could be heavy and produce some minor flooding issues,” the bulletin said.
After Thursday, weather is predicted to dry out with afternoon shower and thunderstorm activity expected to be less widespread.
