The timing couldn’t be better for baseball.
Sunny skies are expected through most of the week, with a brief interlude of light rain in mid-week to help green the grass on baseball fields. Then on Friday, when the first pitch will be thrown at Coors Field this season, temperatures will be nearly perfect.
The high temperature could reach 71 degrees on Monday with mostly sunny skies, forecasters from the National Weather Service in Boulder predict.
The low on Monday night will be about 43 degrees with a light breeze.
It is expected to be cooler on Tuesday with a 20 percent chance of rain in the afternoon. The high is expected to be about 60 degrees.
The winds will pick up on Tuesday afternoon when they shift from a southwest to a northwest direction. Steady winds will be between 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph, NWS meteorologists say.
Temperatures will increase gradually later in the week, with forecast highs of 61 on Wednesday, 68 on Thursday.
It should be a great day for the opening day of baseball for the Colorado Rockies on Friday, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 70 degrees.
“Not too cool, not too hot, mostly clear skies,” said Jim Kalina, meteorologist for the NWS. “Almost perfect weather.”
The high on Saturday is also expected to be around 70 degrees.
There is another slight chance of rain on Sunday, when temperatures will dip to a high of 61 degrees.
