The heat is on in Denver, where a record-high temperature was tied on two consecutive days.
On Wednesday the temperature at Denver International Airport climbed to 95 degrees at 4:37 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, tying the record high for the city on June 6, set in 2006.

On Tuesday in Denver an older record, from 1946, and also 95 degrees, was tied for the record high for June 5. The pair of 95s are part of a heat wave that’s spawning late-afternoon and evening thunderstorms along the Front Range and on the Eastern Plains.
On Wednesday winds reaching 58 mph about two miles south of Ken Caryl were reported by the weather service. The wind blast took down some tree limbs in the area, and residents were warned to take cover and stay away from windows.
A severe thunderstorm warning was posted for the west side of the metro area, including Lakewood, Littleton and Wheat Ridge, until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A severe thunderstorm warning was posted for Weld County.

On the plains, an urban and small stream flood advisory was posted until 9 p.m. for northern Sedgwick and Logan counties. A slow storm dropped heavy rain, up to 2 inches, flooding low-lying areas.
Large hail was reported in northeastern Colorado Wednesday night, including in Yuma and Logan counties where vehicles were reportedly damaged.

On Wednesday afternoon a tornado touched down outside of Laramie. There were no reports of injuries.
