Southwesterly winds are ushering much warmer temperatures to the Front Range despite a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms, according to weather forecasters.
There’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. But it will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 71 degrees. The chance for rain will increase to 30 percent in the evening, the NWS said.
Light snow is possible above 10,000 feet in the mountains, the NWS said.
Friday will be the beginning of a sunny and warmer period extending through the weekend.

Temperatures will rise to 77 degrees on Friday, 78 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday, the NWS says. Afternoon and evening rain showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the weekend, forecasters said.
The first part of the next work week will be mostly sunny, with temperatures climbing to 86 degrees, both on Monday and Tuesday, the NWS said.
