Aurora police are investigating the death of a man who was found shot after leaving a gas station April 4 as a homicide.

The man, whose name wasn’t released, was found when officers responded to a shooting at 7:15 p.m. at East 35th Avenue and Helena Street. He was taken to the hospital and declared brain dead April 7.

The Adams County coroner officially ruled the death a homicide after performing an autopsy.

Aurora police said the shooting happend after the victim left the Maverik Gas Station at North Chambers Road and East 38th Avenue. Detectives have identified three vehicles that might have been involved: a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, a Volkswagen sedan, and a BWM 7 Series.
