Denver police have arrested a man suspected of killing two people in separate stabbings on this morning, including on a Regional Transportation District bus.
Officers arrested Vinchenzo Moscoso, 30, in the 5500 block of North Lowell Boulevard without incident, the Denver Police Department announced at 3:47 p.m. on X.
Regis University was placed on lockdown while police searched for Moscoso in the area.
Law enforcement responded to a stabbing on an RTD bus at 5:10 a.m. near West 32nd Avenue and North Federal Boulevard and transported one man to the hospital, who later died. The man, believed to be Moscoso, left the bus before he could be apprehended, according to police.
A second stabbing was reported at 9:50 a.m. near West 50th Avenue and North Federal Boulevard, where a woman was found and pronounced dead. Officers found Moscoso based on a description, according to the department.
Initial reports indicated that the first stabbing might have started as an argument on the RTD bus, but surveillance video shows the attack appeared to be unprovoked, according to the department. The motive for the stabbings is still being investigated.
A medical examiner will publicly release the identity of the victims at a later date.
It’s still under investigation if the suspect and the victim knew each other, RTD spokesperson Doug Schepman said, and police are still investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing.
Schepman said there were other passengers on the bus at the time of the stabbing.
