A three-vehicle crash Wednesday at U.S. 50 and Evans resulted in the death of a Cañon City woman.
Sergeant Patrick Rice, public information officer for the Colorado State Patrol, said a call regarding a vehicle rollover came in just after 9:30 a.m.
A Ford Flex driven by a 63-year-old Cañon City man was traveling westbound on U.S. 50, approaching Evans Road, when he failed to stop for a red light and collided in the intersection with a utility vehicle traveling northbound, crossing U.S. 50 on Evans Road. The utility vehicle had a FedEx logo and was driven by 61-year-old Susan Lindberg of Cañon City.
After the Ford Flex hit it on its passenger side, the utility vehicle rolled one-quarter time onto its side and collided with a Dodge Ram pulling a horse trailer south on Four Mile Parkway. The Dodge Ram was driven by a 57-year-old Gunnison man.
A secondary collision occurred with the Ford Flex and the Dodge Ram in the same location.
The driver of the Ford Flex sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained minor injuries, Rice said.
Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller said Lindberg was transported to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, where she succumbed to her injuries early Thursday morning.
Rice said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
No charges have been filed as the crash is still under investigation.
The current medical status of the two survivors also is unknown at this time.
