Two people were killed in crashes in Aurora and Fremont County on Thursday amid snowy conditions across Colorado.

A man driving a sedan southbound on Airport Boulevard near 32nd Avenue died after colliding with a semitrailer just before 3 a.m., according to the Aurora Police Department.

The sedan hit the rear of the northbound semi, which was turning left onto 32nd Avenue, and the sedan driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Aurora police said. Investigators are looking at speed as a possible factor in the crash, which closed the intersection for more than five hours on Thursday morning.

A man driving a Subaru Outback died in a crash with a Colorado Department of Transportation snowplow on Colorado 115 north of Penrose on Thursday morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Troopers responded to the crash at 7:19 a.m. and believe the Subaru driver was driving northbound when he lost control on the snow-packed and slushy road and began to turn into the southbound lanes.

The driver’s side of the Subaru hit the southbound snowplow and traveled off the east side of the road, and the Subaru driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The snowplow driver, a 45-year-old man from Canon City, had minor injuries and refused a ride to the hospital.
