Motorcyclist killed in Jefferson County crash on westbound I-70

The crash involved a bus, a motorcycle and a possible third vehicle, state patrol said

A motorcyclist died Tuesday evening in a Jefferson County crash that temporarily shut down westbound Interstate 70, according to the State Patrol.

State troopers responded about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to the crash near mile marker 264 on westbound I-70, according to a news release from the agency. That’s west of the exit for Youngfield Street, near the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt.

The crash involved at least a motorcycle and a bus but could have included a third unknown vehicle, State Patrol officials said .

Agency officials said the cause of the crash remains unknown.

The 19-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene of the crash, officials said. He will be identified by the county coroner’s office.

The bus driver and passengers were not injured.

All lanes of westbound I-70 were closed for multiple hours Tuesday during the crash cleanup and investigation, but were fully reopened Wednesday morning.

The crash is under investigation by the State Patrol.
